| RP-95 EFI Detonator
P/N 183-7373
RISI manufactures Exploding Foil Initiators (EFI) for a variety of commercial and military applications. The most efficient EFI manufactured by RISI is the RP-95.
The flat configuration of the RP-95 provides optimum slapper performance in a low inductance, state-of-the-art geometry while the alligator type connector provides an economical means of performing firing studies. The RP-95 can be supplied as a bridge cable sub-assembly without any explosive for flyer studies. The RP-95 can be modified for special applications by changing the explosive output and/or the cable-bridge geometry.
EFI's can be supplied in a coaxial or pigtail configuration under special order. These designs, although more versatile, tend to have higher inductance and thus not provide optimum performance as compared to a flat cable EFI.
EFI's tend to be more system dependent than EBW detonators and require consideration of the entire firing circuit. RISI invites your discussion on particular applications.
All RISI EFI's use a high surface HNS, similar to HNS-IV, with plastic binder. Other surface areas or explosive types
can be substituted under special order.
RP-95 FIRING PARAMETERS
| Threshold Voltage |
1550 V with 0.25 µfd capacitor |
| Function Time |
Approximately 1.06 µsec |
| Caution: While EBW and EFI Initiators are inherently less susceptible to accidental detonation during handling and set-up than devices containing primary explosives, electrical and electronic firing systems are sensitive to transient electrical energies which could cause premature triggering or firing. The blasting area must be clear of personnel and equipment before the detonator leads are connected to any RISI Firing System. Only approved RISI Firing Systems should ever be used to initiate or detonate any explosive product manufactured and authorized for sale by RISI. |
